Save the Date: ECTMIH 2027 – Refocusing on Global Health
FESTMIH, together with ISGlobal and SEMTSI, is pleased to announce the 15th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH 2027). After 16 years, the congress returns to Barcelona, Spain, taking place 25–28 October 2027 at the International Barcelona Convention Center (CCIB, TBC). A pre-congress ECTMIH Academy is planned for 24 October.
A biennial event initiated by FESTMIH in 1995, ECTMIH has grown into the premier European forum for global health equity and scientific innovation, connecting stakeholders from Europe and from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Under the theme "Refocusing on Global Health," the 2027 edition responds to a rapidly changing global landscape: shifting geopolitical priorities, reduced funding for global health, and increasing health inequalities. The congress is a call to action to reassess priorities, strengthen collaboration, and address neglected areas in global health.

Four cross-cutting themes underscore the interdisciplinarity essential to addressing these challenges: artificial intelligence and digital innovations; geopolitical and societal challenges; health, the environment, climate and our planet at risk; and combating the growing challenge of antimicrobial and vector resistance.
