Now published in Tropical Medicine & International Health: "Better health for all in a changing world: sparks from the 14th ECTMIH"
We are pleased to announce the publication of a congress report on the 14th European Congress of Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH), held in Hamburg in September/October 2025.
The article "Better health for all in a changing world: sparks from the 14th ECTMIH" has just appeared in Tropical Medicine & International Health (Wiley). It reflects on the key scientific and health policy messages from a congress that brought together approximately 1,300 participants from 84 countries, one third of whom came from outside Europe.
Core themes covered in the report include projected cuts to global health financing of up to 40%, the devastating impact of armed conflict on health systems worldwide, the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance, the promises and risks of artificial intelligence in global health, and the northward spread of vector-borne diseases in Europe driven by climate change. The authors also address declining vaccine coverage and the role of innovative educational tools in tackling misinformation and behavioural change.
The authors call for inclusive, cross-sectoral collaboration grounded in health as a human right, and look ahead to ECTMIH 2027 at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health.
